I am a Carpenter and these shorts last in extreme work conditions I have worn them for 20 years and only had one pair get torn. The duck fabric is stiff and thats the secret to the longevity.

My new favorite shorts! Sometimes Carhartt shorts and and pants are about one size smaller than listed but not these shorts, they are spot on. Mine did have some minor second qualities(one had two small stitch loops sticking out of the fabric and one had a very small fade/light spot but neither will effect there look or life). Grab em while you can and happy hunting!

I buy 2 pair of these each Spring in order to make it through the Summer...in Arizona the Summer is about 8 1/2 months long...Though these shorts are rated as seconds I am never able to find the flaws.

My order was on my doorstep within 48 hours of placing the order...this is why I am Sierra Trading Post customer.

They're CARHARTT's! The heavy duty work duck ones. They last forever. One exception- when you have to buy new ones cuz your waist got bigger ;-)

    • Answer It is soft than cotton duck, which is a heavy, plain woven cotton fabric. Often is used for Carhartt's work wear.

    • Answer I expect "Duck" to be a heavy Cotton weave, like a (light) cotton canvas, that will hold up under work conditions like framing carpenters, plumbers and miners, ect. Waxed Duck would be water proof, like the outback coats.
