They are a minimalist short - very light material and padding. The material is so thin that it allows light to shine through. I am used to shorts being like that after months or years of use, but not right out of the box. The fit was good. I plan to use these for shorter and easier rides.

The sewing construction of material is ok, however I use cycling shorts for 2 reasons:
1) padding comfort
2) pants don't get caught up in front cogs
It succeeds in #2 but fails in #1. The chamois is a thin fleece-like material with insufficient padding. It is also too narrow. My "stuff" kept falling to the side into the Spandex and I had to stop every 5-10 mins to "squirm" back into place.
Shorts are supposed to be comfortable and not on your mind. When I have to keep thinking about my junk hanging out every 5 mins, oh man...
I'd skip this and purchase something from Sugoi instead. Much better quality stuff. For example, the leg grippers on Sugoi stuff is a rubberized layer sealed on top of the fabric. On the Canari, the grippers are just tiny rubber bands sewn into the fabric, which will eventually snap.

Pricepoint is great for these shorts. Comfortable and dry quickly. CAnari products all seem to run larger than most cycling gear. Ordered another pair in small. Very happy with them for 1/2 the price of retail shorts
