I bought this coat at 50% off- a great deal for such quality construction of an outdoor coat. The upper body fit allows for full range of motion without any restriction yet still has nice fitted shape from the bust down- it even gives the illusion of a small waist. If you have medium to broad shoul... Read More

Used it as a shell over a vest and fleece for sub zero skiing. Did a nice job with wind protection and has lots of pockets and good zippers.

This shell is perfect for the Colorado high country. The windproof/waterproof design is exactly what I needed in an active jacket. The sleeves are long enough for my tall frame, which is very hard to find!

I was trying to find a coat that would fit my daughter in her shoulders and have long enough sleeves. The sleeves were long but the coat was not warm enough. We live in Wisconsin, where the weather can be below zero and a wicked wind.

This feels like a very high quality made jacket. I loved how long the sleeves were. I'm 5'8" and they came down to my knuckles. However the torso length was a bit short; came just to the top of my pants zipper. I bought this for casual wear, and for that it would not be warm enough most days where I live where it's in the 20s F. This is made for a higher level of activity. It has an impressive amount of waterproofing, however that makes the fabric quite stiff and noisy, and also the pockets are not very easy access. They are in a somewhat awkward position, and are not easy to get into particularly when zipped. I did love the color, I got the pink which in person was a very bright almost hot pink. Bright enough to be pretty, cheerful, and flattering, but not hi-vis neon colored. Overall, if I were buying this to wear hiking up and skiing off of mountains, I think it would be great. But for everyday wear, too stiff and noisy, pockets too inconvenient, and the deciding factor was the length being too short. For size reference, I'm about 150 lb and the small fit fine. Actually loose in the chest and shoulder area, and just about as snug as would be comfortable in the lower waist/hip area. No problem fitting a large sweater on underneath. A medium would definitely have been too big. I didn't think it had a flattering shape overall. It was a bit mannish with the larger shoulder/chest area.

The Igneo jacket has many of the bells and whistles that I search for; pit zips, adjustable cuffs, adjustable hood-not heavily insulated, zipped pockets - nice variety; it seems to be comfortable except the sleeves are toooo looooong! The sleeves literally are well past my fingertips. Should I pay someone $50 to shorten them professionally? It's much noisier too. Looks real nice - good color.

  • Question “What are the sleeves like at the end? Velcro?
    what is the wristband like?”
Asked on 11/19/2014 1:22:15 PM by Bluegirl from NH
    • Answer The sleeves have hook/loop cuff closures at the end. The wristband is adjustable. You can hook it around your thumb if you want to hold the sleeves down or simple adjust it to your wrist size.

    • Answer It is a velcro closure that you can adjust to fit your wrist.

  • Question “Is this coat warm enough for -0 F and below temps and -0 or below wind chills?”
Asked on 11/16/2014 4:31:35 PM by bthom from Michigan
    • Answer Lately it has been - 9 and more here, so was able to find this out first hand. With a below temp reading this coat was warm enough but still wore a thin fleece undergarment, wind was also a issue but had no problem blocking it. It is a very well made coat and holds up to it's claims. Plus for an added bonus it is flattering on.
Answered on 11/16/2014 6:48:14 PM by outdoor nana from Wyoming
    • Answer Funny you should ask because we have been dealing with sub zero temps and wind chill all week.

I added a hoodie or a sweater underneath my jacket because I am cold all of the time, I dress in layers, and there is room underneath the jacket for extra layers. The lining is thin but the outside shell protects well against the cold wind and blowing snow.

The hood and the cuffs are great at keeping cold air and snow out also. The jacket zips up to cover your mouth and nose, and the cuffs are adjustable to tighten around your gloves. Bottom line I have been keeping warm.

I have not tested the jacket outside for long periods of time yet other than to walk about a mile (20 minutes). I was warm the entire time and protected well. I can't wait to get it on the slopes.

    • Answer This coat definitely blocks the wind and has taped zippers to keep tiny air drafts from entering through the zippers. We don't have temps lower than zero in Washington state however I have worn it in 15-20 degree windy temps with just a t-shirt and was quite comfortable. With an appropriate under layer I suspect this coat would work for you. Go ahead and give it a try, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the quality.
