This rod does the job, but really needs a central bracket to hold up the middle. Although three brackets are supplied, they only work if you are mounting them at the same distance from the wall. My slider has a casement around it which is about an inch thick and therefore when mounted at the proper height, the middle bracket sticks out an inch too far.
The two main rod pieces connect together by using the "cuff" which squeezes to go inside both of the main pieces. Push both of the pieces together until they are flush. This may scratch the cuff a little. The smaller rod piece then goes into the end of the main rod, then the end caps can be tightened into place on the ends of the smaller piece and the main piece.
