These are very nice curtains. Nice thick cotton. Room darkening value. When I took them out of the package they looked too long and they were about 2-3 inches. I decided to wash them to get the package wrinkles out and soften them up. They shrank about 5 inches in length which, ultimately, made them too short. I can still use them becuase I bought them for a temporary "door" in an entry way which we are going to put french doors on eventually. It would have been a big deal if I were ussing them on a window. If you wash them do not out them in the dryer.

Yes, the other reviews discussing wrinkles are true. I'm going to try steaming them out while the panels are spread out on the floor. Also I'm going to sew in drapery weights to help them hang better.

When I took them out of the package there was some cracks at the bottom just above both hems. Because I was going to hem them up anyway I decided to keep them. For the money they will work just fine. Had I paid a hefty price i would have sent them back after seeing the defects. They actually look very nice hanging in my living room and really do block the light. I did wash and line dry them before I hemmed them up. They did shrink a couple of inches. I also presses them before hanging and am pleased with the final result. I only gave them 3 stars because of the way they looked out of the package but would buy again.

I didn't wash these first as others did, but did iron them as firmly and hotly as I could before I hung them (abt med iron heat), and about half of the heavy wrinkliness came out. Our color is the navy blue (the med blue was too heathery/gray-ish, so we exchanged), and it doesn't show the wrinkles as a lighter color might, but they're still wrinkled, and I wouldn't like these in my living room. I won't invest another session in removing them and ironing them again to see if that works more; I don't have time to do that all over again. But once did help some and was necessary as far as I'm concerned. Suggest don't get these for a showy room. But otherwise they are the heavy room-darkening and insulating coverage we wanted. And very very good price!

  • Question “will 80in cover 80in window an look pleated”
Asked on 12/4/2012 12:00:00 AM by mack from jefferson city mo
    • Answer I will try to answer this- no. The 80 inch is a flat measure. Get double, or the maximum width and you will have a more billowy generous pleated look. I have much experience with these, and I have had them flat width just covering and it's ok if you want it to look like a shade but honestly it going to be better with more width.

    • Answer There are two panels. I am using them for a sliding door. You'll have a split in the middle, but I don't mind it, they stay closed (overlapped a bit) when I want to block light completely.
