Bought these socks for light hiking and LOVE them - bought some more for everyday use. They run just a little large (but, I don't machine dry them).

    Light, cool, good quality socks.
Wish I had bought two more pair!

Advertised as "light cushioning," but more like "thin cushioning." The merino construction is the main distinguishing feature. Otherwise, just a crew [...].

Fit slightly long but haven't washed them yet, so i'm sure they'll shorten up since they're wool.
Not sure why these are seconds. No obvious defects.

Unbelievable comfort these socks produce. Need more!

These were sold as seconds, but I've not seen evidence of that other than some excess threads on the inside of the sock. Soft, comfortable, true to size, and not itchy (at least to me).

Have been through the wash a couple of times so far and they seem to be holding up fine.

    Would buy again if available...

    • Answer I have purchased this "Navy" color and it looks like washed denim - perfect for me to wear with my jeans!
Answered on 2/15/2014 9:40:14 AM by Shop4sales from Columbus OH
    • Answer The tan sock is a true 100% tan like Khaki color, the navy sock is a blend of true navy wool and lighter greyish-blue wool. The overall affect is to have like a heather navy...kind of a blend that is more navy than grey, but definitively not 100% navy.
Answered on 2/15/2014 9:57:21 AM by Liatris from Minnesota
    • Answer They are dark blue
Answered on 2/15/2014 11:25:48 AM by Michael from North Carolina
    • Answer I have this color, I would call the picture accurate. It uses at least two colors of threads in the sock, one is a grey and one is maybe navy, but the combined color when viewed from any distance is more a dark blue/grey and not so much navy.
Answered on 2/15/2014 12:00:28 PM by Nick from So Cal
    • Answer Well the ones I have are light grey on the bottom toe to heal the balance has that grey with a navy mix so from 4' away the look great but darker than the bottoms

  • Question “I can't find sock sizes ..What is a womens size 9 ?
Asked on 2/6/2014 10:20:05 AM by LD from Virginia
    • Answer I am a Women's size 7 and wear the size small they fit great and wash and dry well. My boyfriend is a Men's size 9 and wears the mediums, but he also sometimes wears my socks they just fit him very snugly. If I were you I might buy the smalls if you have long and slender feet and the mediums if you have long and wider feet. I hope this advice is helpful!
Answered on 2/6/2014 10:36:34 AM by Liatris from Sant Paul, MN
    • Answer Hello Liatris again,

Just for clarification in the above answer for smalls I meant to S/M size and mediums for M/L size...their sizing is a little confusing!
Answered on 2/6/2014 10:40:34 AM by Liatris from Minnesota
    • Answer If you hover (or click) your mouse over each listed size, it will tell you what the size is in male (M) and female (F). M/L (M Shoe Size 7-10, F 8-11)

    • Answer LD, that's my size also. Goodhew M/L will fit you. Enjoy,

  • Question “Are these socks good for hiking in temperatures above 85 degrees?”
Asked on 4/10/2011 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer They will be warm but they will wick the moisture away to keep your feet dry.
Answered on 4/11/2011 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer Yes, they are the best for higher temps as they both wick and don't bunch up to create pressure points on sweaty feet.

    • Answer Yes.
Answered on 1/13/2012 12:00:00 AM by Steeler Fan from The Woodlands, TX
    • Answer Assuming you are wearing a boot or shoe with a breathable upper, you'll be fine. I prefer light wool in hot conditions more than any synthetics I have used. When I hike in hot conditions, I try to pack a spare pair of socks and change them at rest breaks if the socks I'm wearing are uncomfortably damp. These will dry pretty fast.
Answered on 2/13/2012 12:00:00 AM by El Gato from Virginia
    • Answer I don't see why not. They wick away moisture and have the light cushion.
Answered on 3/5/2012 12:00:00 AM by Bry from WY
    • Answer They could be good for temperatures above 85 degrees. The sock has some cushion, but not heavy enough to suit me for an all day heavy hike.
Answered on 3/6/2012 12:00:00 AM by Sparty from KCMO
    • Answer Yes, definitely. These are a lightweight wool blend and they will keep your feet cool and dry in hot temps. Great socks.

    • Answer I think the comfort of wool hiking socks in the heat depends on the person. For me, good quality merino socks (even mid-weight ones) are the best in the heat - much more comfortable than cotton, which gets soggy, or synthetic, which feels hot.
