    First off these have some of the finest optics of any binoculars I've owned. The clarity of the lenses is great and they gather plenty of light for my purposes. I had purchased some Bushnell compacts from STP initially and was quite disappointed in the optics. Sent them back in exchange for these Nikons...couldn't be happier...no comparison.
    Yes, they are bulky for taking on short hikes and they cost twice what I originally paid for the compacts but the difference in optics more than makes up for it. It's as though the depth perception makes everything appear in 3D!
    It would be nice to have them gas filled to avoid any fogging in wet climates but I live in Colorado so that isn't much of an issue. So far, I'm very pleased

    Didn't realize they were reconditioned. A little difficult to get the lens caps to stay on the strap (could just be me)
