These socks are super cute and the colors are great. The fabric is rough and scratchy, though, and they are extremely tight. I have narrow feet and ordered a large enough size -- my usual Lorpen size -- but these are impossible for me to wear. They dig into the skin above my ankles and squeeze my insteps terribly, causing the sensation that there are pulled threads cinching around my feet. I LOVE Lorpen socks but these are going into the trash bin.

I bought a variety of socks from Sierra Trading this Fall. This sock has a fun design and is a nice break from the usual bland sock. This sock can be worn with a variety of footwear as it has a nice fit. I could not find the blemishes.
Modal is considered a type of rayon. It is a processed bio-based textile made from reconstituted cellulose from the beech tree. It is very soft. One of the advantages of modal over cotton is its resistance to shrinkage, a notorious problem with cotton. Modal is also less likely to fade or to form pills as a result of friction
