Wife gets cold. She climbed into this and said it was like being in a warm hug. The thing just oozes quality. interior baffles are nice, and hood/bonnet is a good shape. We're going on an extend trip in July, will provide final rating then.

I bought this bag for winter camping and have not been disappointed by its ability to keep me warm. I took one star off for how easily the zipper eats the bag when zipping and unzipping. So far no damage to the bag where the zipper has snagged, but with down it only takes a small hole to be destructive. On the positive side the zipper baffle on the inside is large and stops drafts very well. The inside of the bag is black which helps to absorb the sun and dry the bag quicker. Overall I am very happy with this bag especially for the price!

Love this bag. The first outing turned out to be car camping but it was -6 outside, at best 15 or 20 in the car. With this bag and a light liner, I was toasty warm and happy. Loved it.

These are a great deal and I've used mine time after time in many different conditions, climates and seasons. It is extremely warm and comfortable. I've even used this bag in the summer or extremely cold nights on the mountain. The zipper tends to snag if you are not careful.

  • Question “I am considering this bag and also the Marmot Neve bag for women. I am wondering which bag would be warmer for me. The snowcrest has a lower temp rating than the neve (at 5 vs 15), but the neve has 800 fill power (rather than 600) and is designed for women (I am about 5'5), so I thought better fit might mean more warmth as well. Can you help me compare the two in terms of warmth and anything else you might have to add? Also, the neve says it is in fact heavier than this bag (while having a HIGHER temp rating, higher fill power, and being a smaller size for women) I don't know what to make of that since I thought that higher fill power meant relatively lighter weight. I hope that makes sense. Thank you!”
Asked on 3/27/2013 11:26:19 AM by Nat from Oregon
    • Answer The 5 degree Snowcrest is the warmer of the 2 bags. The woman's Neve would have less space to warm, but it still is only a 15 degree bag. The Neve is using a heavier fabric.

  • Question “I'm 6' should I order the long?”
Asked on 1/2/2013 12:00:00 AM by Bohunk from Twin Lakes Ca.
    • Answer Your are right at the top edge for length. If you like a little more space the long would be the choice. The trade off is that you will have a little more space in the bag that your body will have to warm.

  • Question “So is there a DWR finish on the nylon outer or similar water repellent?”
Asked on 4/14/2012 12:00:00 AM by Coyote from Ewesgenes, Orygun
    • Answer Yes it does, almost all Marmot products have a DWR finish on them. Thanks for asking and have a great day.

  • Question “i have this item, but have not used it as i am concerned about the temperature rating on the manufacturer's tag. i checked with a couple of local vendors, and they were unable to find a listing for this sleeping bag. they referred me to marmot, which confirmed that (1) this bag is made specifically for discounters like STP, (2) they do not test these discount bags for male and female temperature comfort zones as is now done routinely for standard retail bags. so...does STP test them? since the female comfort zone is generally ~16 degrees or so higher than for men, i am guessing that this 5 degree bag would not be warm enough for many women at lower temperatures. very disappointing as this is not a cheap bag. please clarify in your specifications.”
Asked on 3/24/2012 12:00:00 AM by jan from st. paul, mn.
    • Answer Marmot does make some products specifically for us and other STP competitors. But, Marmot does put our (STP) products through the same testing standards as their main brand products. The Snowcrest Sleeping Bag does have a temp rating of 5°F. I hope this helps, have a great day.

    • Answer I am a male.....I can say that I've used this bag in the Smokies during the winter, in temps around 20 degrees and high winds .....The rating may be a little lower than actual performance. However, a good sleeping pad will make a difference for the bag, as most cool air seemed to penetrate through the bottom of the bag (I was using a foam Thermo-rest). Also, the bag does seem a little "thin" for such a low rating....However, I love the bag and it packs very small! Great bag!
