They are a minimal amount of coverage but comfortable and stylish. Have worn these casually and for dressier occassions. Straps a bit loose but thong style stablizes the fit. Wear a 10 and ordered the same.

I wear a 12 in closed shoes but sometimes an 11 in sandals (e.g. Chacos, Tevas), so decided to take a chance on these in an 11 due to the reviews I'd read. They're darling simple sandals and were fine in length, but unfortunately a bit too narrow for me in the forefoot - a couple toes were creeping off the side so I sadly had to return. However, my foot is a bit wide through the toe area, so if you have a slim forefoot the 11 may work for you if you're an 11.5 or even 12.

Reviewed by footwear lover from Massachusetts on Monday, September 03, 2012These days, most stylish shoes are not made for walking long distances, and shoes that are made for long walks are not stylish. I'm hoping these are the exception. I've only had them for a week, so I can't speak yet to their durability (though at first look they seem very well-made), but they're the most comfortable sandals I've had since I was a kid. I plan on using these heavily for city walking and wearing at work. I've already ordered a second pair of these sandals in a different color. I followed other reviewers' advice and ordered a whole size down from my usual- they fit perfectly. Longest walk in them so far was about two miles around my city, and my feet felt great the whole time. Thank you Patagonia for making a quality sandal with a sleek line and a cushioned sole.

Answer If you are a whole size I wouldn't recommend ordering down a size. If you are a half size ordering down would be recommended then. Medium width is a standard women's width in shoes.
