The VT2 486-4 (8'6"#4 weight) is my "go to" flyrod for every creek, stream and river in my area. It is the perfect rod for how and where I fish most often for just about any kind of fish that live in my local waters. This rod is capable of making long, accurate casts with fine leaders and tiny flies and strong enough to cast large flies even in the wind with enough power to land the occasional "lunker". This rod has excellent line and tip feel, loads up well and has a nice smooth action. It's small enough to get into tight places around cover yet long enough for high sticking. This is my first pick when I head to the waters... Its blue finish is not only very beautiful, but unmistakable, especially in the sunlight and the craftsmanship is second to none. Plus, this rod has a lifetime warrenty in case of any mishap. It's hard to go wrong with a Sage!

Nice rod but all the rods in this line cast best with one wt. higher: 5wt. works best with 6wt. line. Even Rio Grand line in 5wt. isn't enough weight to make it perform best. Size up!!

I tried this out on a small trout stream with great results. The action is fast and the rod feels great. It took no time to get the feel of this flyrod.

This rod is so smooth. I usually use fast action rods. My favorite rod is my Sage XP 696. I was a little concerned that this rod would be too soft. It is very responsive, has plenty of power, and it casts beautifully.
