We bought two pairs of the older Komperdell carbon poles from Sierra Trading Post. One twist-lock failed recently, so we ordered this as replacement. Didn't like the old twist-lock at all--hard to lock and prone to slipping. So far the new locks seem to be reliable on two days' hiking on steep tr...

I was extremely disappointed to receive these poles-with no directions on how to use/adjust/put them together. All of which was implied to be included.
No information on what height they should be, for instance, or what the disks or clamps, etc were for. This being my first set of walking poles , i was so very excited to get them, and s very disappointed and baffled how to use these particular poles, even though i had done a fair amount of research before ordering them. Obviously on my part, not enough. Dampened any thoughts of placing future orders with STP.

The poles came quickly and lived up to my expectations. They are super light and easy to adjust. They are just as described, however are a different colour than in the photo. Didn't bother me that they looked different, since the quality was still there.

I recently returned from a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in which I used these poles constantly, climbing desert trails, negotiating cobbled streets, and ascending countless stairs. I have a bad hip, and these poles made it possible for me to go 'farther, faster' than I possibly could have managed without them. They are strong (I'm a big guy, and sometimes put a *lot* of weight onto a single pole), very light weight, and the locks are positive and secure. I can't praise them enough. Some will wonder about choosing between these lighter-weight, rigid poles and heavier, spring-loaded styles. In two weeks of intense use, I never experienced wrist or elbow pain using them -- just adjust your straps properly, and you're good to go. Buy these!
