This is just another great product from Marmot. What sets this jacket apart is the gusseted sleeves and material. Its breathable and somewhat warm for what it is. REMEMBER: this is a jacket meant for aerobic activities! IT IS THIN FOR A SOFTSHELL. Don't buy this jacket expecting something for casual... Read More

Light, comfortable, length of sleeves and jacket is perfect. I'm 6'2" and skinny and the large fits well. A medium would have been a bit tight if I had much on underneath. Very warm but not bulky.

This is a simple, no-frills and beautifully minimalistic soft-shell. It's not going to protect you from downpours or keep you warm at night under the stars, but it does serve as a great layer for 50-65 degree weather while providing temporary refuge from a bit of rain. I work on a college campus in the northwest and keep one in my office for walking around campus most days in the fall and spring. I see other reviews using this jacket for more technical needs (running, etc.) and I'm sure it would perform admirably. I have other jackets for more active pursuits, but for a casual, attractive layer in a wide variety of settings around town, I can highly recommend this jacket. I'd love to pick up more in other colors if I catch the right price.

just received jacket - quite pleased overall. Nice stretch through arms and across breadth of back shoulders.

Only thing that stops me from posting 5 stars here is color - the posted picture for black shows more as a gunmetal gray on my PC and that's what I was expecting. To be clear - you get straight black if you order black for this jacket.

No big deal for me - I already had the black Marmot Scree pants which are the same M3 fabric weight.

    • Answer The lining is not a windproof lining, but the jacket is fairly wind resistant.

  • Question “Does this jacket have a lining?”

    • Answer no lining.

    • Answer No lining, really quite light...more like a windbreaker.
Answered on 8/4/2011 12:00:00 AM by Paetrix from Middle Border, IL
    • Answer No lining, it is a relatively thin, stretchy material, but feels like it would be pretty abrasion resistant, w/DWR coating.

    • Answer It's got a sewn in lining (of sorts) on the front of the jacket, but it dosen't add warmth. This windbreaker is very lightweight and breathable- the company considers it an outer layer, but I like to use it as a light jacket when I need just a little more warmth than a long sleeved shirt would supply. It isn't nearly as warm as a traditional soft shell.

    • Answer No lining just a good softshell for spring/fall or layering.

    • Answer It is not a waterproof jacket, but soft shells will shed some water.
