I work in Beijing. This coat has done a good job so far in keeping me warm in below-freezing weather, and it's a good windstopper, too. The weather hasn't yet gotten super cold, but in 20º weather I've been quite comfortable wearing this over a sweatshirt.
The coat has excellent pockets – the outside pockets can easily fit a phone and wallet along with chapstick and other necessaries, and the buttons on the pockets are difficult to undo that you don't have to worry about the pocket coming open or a pickpocket getting you (an unfortunately common worry in Beijing).
My complaints: The coat loses quite a bit of feathers, much more than any of my previous down jackets (expensive North Face coats and cheap no-name Chinese brands alike). Also, the fill sits a bit funny on the chest, making the coat look overly lumpy. Attempts to massage the fill around to give the coat a smoother look haven't been very successful.
In sum: a good coat for a good price, but I worry that it will lose its down too quickly.

As described in other reviews, this jacket runs large. I am 6 feet, 192 pounds, usually wear a large, but ordered medium after reading the other reviews. Even the medium is quite roomy, but I cannot imagine ordering a small. There is nothing small about me! It feels loose and blousy unless I have a sweater on underneath, then it is a good fit, but that is a lot of layers. This is not a Fall jacket. We're talking freezing weather before this comes out. The jacket is well made, substantial but not overly heavy. It is multi- layered. It is a jacket within a jacket with the zippered portion covered by the down and microsuede outer jacket. It is best for outdoor events over a base layer and sweater. It is very toasty but takes a while to get in and out of with all the buttons. I would not use it for daily use, but some days it is just right. Warm. If the temperature exceeds 40 degrees, this is almost too much coat. It is a Winter jacket for cold and blustery days.

It is great for those cold snowy days! Below 20 and i had no ptoblem! It looks nice aswell something you could wear to a nice place! The only draw back is there are 7 buttons you have do and undone to cover the zipper! It can be quite time consuming!

Answer
The Columbia Sportswear Bolton Down Jacket is not a 3 in 1 style jacket. The insulation layer cannot be removed. It is machine wash/dry so it can be washed at home.

Answer
Columbia does not provide a fill weight for the Bolton Down Jacket, but I do know the jacket consists of 80% down, 20% feathers.
