I am very impressed with how comfortable these are to sleep on. They look so thin, it's hard to imagine they'd do much to cushion my tired bones from the ground- but they're great! Even on the hardwood floor of a lean-to, I slept practically as well as at home.

We bought these over a year ago, primarily for our 2 children for their camping tent. These are about twice as thick as a standard thermarest that you'd use for backpacking. Although I would not recommend these for backpacking trips as they are bulky, they work very well for what we use them for...which is car camping and sleep overs.
As a secondary benefit, my kids often "camp" downstairs on the weekends on the living room floor and these are even more comfortable than a standard air mattress and have been used probably 50 times for weekend sleeping on the floor and have held up very well. I also love that they velcro together. I use that feature a lot too.

I've only used these once, for one night. I am sick of deflating air mattresses, and wanted to try something new. They were pretty comfy, and they didn't deflate! I think we might add some extra padding somehow, but I also think that we will use these for many years to come. We are avid Alaskan car campers and I am looking forward to our next trip!

I bought a set of this pads last year for camping and have used them few times last year they are excellent pads with a 3" thickness. they are so comfortable that fills like you are sleeping on a bed at home. the air release valves are mad out of brass which gives it a long lasting life. I am very happy with this product so I bought another set for rest of the family. highly recommend it.

No complaints after two trips. These are great pads for car camping because of their large size when put away. The valves simply screw open or shut with no special locking or pushing motions. We have not used the velcro-connect feature, but everything is in place. With STP prices, we got these two for less than one from other brands/stores.

To inflate the mat you simply open the valves at the top of the air pad and the air begins to get sucked into the pad. When it is inflated you just close the valves. These are made from polyurethane open cell foam. Alps has a video explaining how the pads work that you can view here if you would like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t67Pprcp0Jg
