This icebreaker shirt is awesome! Please note this one says size 6, while they have another listing for the same shirts in different colors - those say 5/6 - and they are about an inch smaller in sleeve length and body length.
This is to me an actual size six and the other is a 5. Not itchy grea...

First I bought 2 for my kids, then i bought 3 more, and 1 for myself. They will keep us warm in Russia this winter.
Very silky to the touch, warm and seem durable. Have only washed them like 5 times, they didn't shrink or fade. And can't beat STP for the price!

Size 5/6 fits my 3 yr old perfectly. He is slightly big for his age (usually wears 4T tops) but I was surprised how well a 5/6 fit him. Order size 2T for my 14 month old. Slightly baggy on him but that will surely change soon. order a size up!

I bought one for my son and he does not want to take it off, sleeps in it. I have not seen this top in active sport action yet, but it seems to be of high quality. Sizing is to the smaller side, my son is 9 and ~50% height/weight. I bought size 9/10 and the sleeves are somewhat shorter than needed and overall it is slightly shorter than I'd like. I'd say it is more like size 8/9 but as the base layer it is ok.

We ordered my 5.5 year old, who is not the "thin-build" but also not particularly large, a 5-6 and it barely fits. If he outgrows this during the winter, I'll give him his brother's size 7-8 and will order up for his brother, whose were also on the small side.
That said, he loves it. It does fit - the sleeves are just right, but I wish the back didn't rise up when he bends over. We'll have to tuck it in to keep it in place.
It's stretchy, though, and fits like you'd want an underlayer to fit - tight, but not insanely so.
The color (green) is beautiful and works nicely on its own, under a t-shirt, or as a true underlayer. I've had these for myself and they wash beautifully and still look great after a lot of wear, so I expect we'll be handing these down to friends, and will do so with pleasure as they are making the boys so happy and warm.
I got 2 for each boy and they haven't wanted to take them off yet. We couldn't bear to send them back, so will just sit tight and plan to order more when one of them outgrows these (in about 5 minutes).

I always keep an eye out for icebreaker merino wool clothing on sale for all members of our family. They are not scratchy at all - the fabric has the hand of a soft cotton interlock shirt. They wick sweat and insulate. Your kid(s) will be able to play outside in the real winter for several hours if they are dressed properly - this is a great layering piece.
They last a long time too. My little one grows out of them before they show wear (so they get passed down to a friend's child).
