A very high quality bamboo rod for a price comparable to those costing thousands more. Beautifully finished and having a very smooth casting action.

I received and field tested my Big T bamboo rod two days ago. This is a beautiful, masterfully crafted fly rod. Both tips fit securely in the ferrule, and the cork, hardware components and fit and finish are top flight. The bamboo has been worked with great skill and love. Of course, the true test is going to the river and putting the rod through it's paces. The rod's medium fast action "shot" line accurately and effortlessly. At 65 years old, I am not a "big caster" any longer, but this wonderful rod will beautifully turn-over my dry flies of choice (#14-20) perfectly. While I did not rig a dry/dropper setup, my experience tells me this rod will be perform beautifully.

Finally, I bought this rod on NewYear's Eve and got the last one. Combined with STP's amazing "one night discount", I purchased this bamboo beauty for the price of a top of the line Sage or Hardy composite rod. Thank you STP, I could never have afforded this rod at the retail price!

Runs in the finish, chip in the finish, reel seat ring and butt cap are way too tight to fit a reel. Will be returning this. Very disappointed.

Matt is the finestkinda folks. He does exceptional work and has been building great rods for more than a few years. His rods are beautiful and his tapers are proven - by him in the Rockies. Check out his website, Schliske bamboo, and you will see his passion for fly fishing as well as building rods. His photography is also astounding. Don't confuse this rod with Chinese imports. This is the real thing, handmade by a master.
