Bought large, which fit great in the waist but was tight in the legs. I lift evenly upper and lower body. I do not have chicken legs. For those of you who walk to the squat rack to start your workout and chose pulls ups over curls, go with a size larger. As a side note, if you are more of a long distance runner they should be fine.

Tested these out on a four day winter camping/fishing trek into the far north. Pants provided protection from wind, wet snow, and cold. Liked the flexibility in the knees when tending ice fishing gear. Also liked the velcro waist adjustment when adding layers. Although my inseam is a 30 the 31 inch pant worked keeping cold out and warm in. At home I depend on them for my cross country ski jaunts and walks.
