Columbia markets these pants as an outdoor-do-everything pant which is quite the opposite of what they are actually good for. They are 100% cotton which is the biggest mistake you could make for any type of outdoor/athletic clothing since cotton stays wet once it's wet and becomes extremely heavy.
I bought these for a multi day hiking trip and was extremely disappointed that I only used them once and then reverted back to my trusty pair of Craghoppers instead.
To make matters worse, a HUGE reason I ordered these to begin with was they sold them in size 30/30. Normally it is really difficult to find that size so I was ecstatic when I found these on sale. When I received them the inseam was well over 34". Additionally the fit was for someone who has the legs of a 300 lbs man because I could almost fit both my legs through one pant hole - what a joke. I ended up hemming these even though I shouldn't have had to, but now I'm stuck swimming in these stupid pants even if the length has been fixed.
I do NOT recommend these unless you are very fat and tall and don't plan to use these for outdoor use.

I got these pants for my husband, thinking they'd be more of a brownish red. I'd actually call them maroon. They fit as expected and look nice and durable. He hasn't had them long enough to see how well they hold up for him at work. We've yet to find some pants that don't rip within a year.
I would call it a Dark Brown with a Red cast to it. If you have ever seen a Bison Hide it is about the color of a Buffalo. It does photo differently depending on light. It is probably closer to a Hersey Bar than and Egg Plant. I like the color as it is versatile and dark. I wear them cuffed and uncuffed.
