Just got these, so haven't done anything but try them on. Normally I wear a 34 waist and I bought the large. Based on the size chart here and on Lowe Alpine's website I thought they would fit with room for a layer or two, but they barely fit with no extra layers. I'd order a size up.

This simply gets the job done for me. It fits over thin pants and base layer. It can be put on and removed even with crampons on. It is a durable type of Gore-Tex. It has optional suspenders. It fits high on the waist so that it doesn't get in the way of backpack straps. Full length zippers so that it's easily put on and removed and so that there's optional ventilation. There's a front fly zipper that also works for ventilation and other things. But the side zippers get caught on the fabric way too easily. It's also a little bulky and there are absolutely no pockets of any sort. I actually like that because it makes it more minimalistic. However, I have to keep the zipper open so that I can access pockets on my under pants.

First use was for Spring Break skiing and purchase for these conditions (lightweight, not as warm). However, had several days of winter conditions and therefore tested on cold and warm days. Worked well for both.
