Upon receiving these pants I went winter backpacking, camping and exploring in one of the Ozark wilderness areas. Lots of thorny thickets, cedar-tree spikes, and varied weather. Pants performed great; nothing fazed them. Fit was perfect--loose enough for base layers and movement, but not too bulk... Read More

Very well made rain pants. Top notch material and hardware. They have features that aren't apparent in the pictures like full length separating side zips on the leg side seams that zip up from the bottom or down from the top, cuffs at the bottom inside the legs that wrap around the ankles and fasten with hook & loop and snap fasteners keep moisture from coming up the legs, reinforcing patches on the rear of the bottom hem of the legs to fight wear and fraying and suspenders that fasten with secure non-metallic fasteners. Downside is that they take a little more time to don than just sticking your feet in the legs and pulling them up. Upside means that they are well suited to combating very wet conditions. Only thing dryer are waders.

They fit great and have plenty of movement range (I can easily bend over and kneel in them) and don't break the bank. They're water proof while sitting on wet benches at the game and the suspenders are perfect at holding them up. They look durable and I'll probably give 'em a good workout during El Nino. Get them before it's too late.

I was very impressed with the overall quality, and for winter or a campsite setting, I would recommend them. The suspenders were easy to detach if you did not want them. Zippers and attachments are well made. They have sewn-in gaters and full length zippers.

If I went out on a day hike the weight and bulk would likely keep me from lugging them along. I question the "pack-friendly weight" in the description They are kind of bulky and a bit heavy for packing along. They definitely would not pack down into a pocket.

Also, I tried them out on a warm summer day and they were too warm for me. Maybe if it was raining I would have been comfortable, but, over jeans or other pants, I think they would be pretty warm.

I decided they would be best for winter use or in a more fixed campsite setting. I guess that is why the are called "base camp pants".

Looked good, but didn't fit. Returned.

Fit very well, comfortable. I was worrying the straps might affect when I carry a bag, but they are not.

Not very light weighted, but feels quite free and easy when put on, can't wait to hike with them!
