This is my second pair of these boots. I'm so sorry to see them listed as closeouts. My first pair I had for 4 years and wore them everyday as I live in a national forest and on average walk 4 miles per day. After 3 years of use, the sole is coming away from the boot. Other than that they are still in perfect shape. I plan on taking them to a shoe repair guy in the big city when I finally get away, but meanwhile have bought this second pair.

This is a great boot. It was bigger than expected, had to send it back and go down 1/2 size. It is nubuck so it needs to be waterproofed. The collar seems a bit rough. I am not used to that. I will have to wear a high sock with it. Other Asolos had a softer collar. I would have given it 5 stars except for that. otherwise, as great as all of my other Asolo boots. I have been wearing them for years.

These boots were comfortable since the minute I put them on. No break in required. They are supportive, don't feel heavy when wearing them and they look good too!

I like these boots. They have a supportive ankle and nice soles. Insole is not what I would like in a backpacking boot. Other than that they look and feel good. They are a little stiff initially but work out fairly quickly. Also not waterproof, I haven't gotten them very wet yet so I;m not sure how they will be in heavy moisture.

  • Question “How do these compare to the 535's? I know the pulley system is one feature. Are there other considerations?”
Asked on 10/6/2011 12:00:00 AM by chimontana from chicago montana
    • Answer There are many differences between the 535 and 250 backpacking boots. One of which being that the 535 is sized for men, and the 250 is sized for women. They both use a removable EVA insole, however the 250 uses a high-density EVA midsole for stability while the 535 uses a shock-absorbing EVA midsole. They both use a Vibram rubber outsole, but the 250 uses an extra high-density arch for support, while the 535 uses a Vibram with Asobrake. The 535 weights 6 ounces more than the 250's 3lb 2 oz. The only other notable difference is that the 250 runs true to size, and the 535 runs small, so in order to get a true to size fit you'd have to get 1/2 size larger than you normally would.
