I was using a pair o fthe Yaktrax I'd bought @ my local REI store, but they failed me and broke when I was up 5000 feet in Whit eMts of NH, in January. REI had assures me these were the best, and they would not fail. I was more than disapointed in the Yaktrax, as well as REI. So, when i came across these Polar Ice Cleats, I was ready to try. They are very well built, and should endure just about anything---far superior to the REI-carried Yaktrax. Also, the Polar Cleats are priced below the Yaktrax---just amazing value. While I use them for Winter hiking, above treeline, they would work well anytime you wanted to safely walk across slippery, icy surfaces. 1 BIG thumbs up!!!

They work very well on ice, not as good on snow. My only negative about the product, they are hard to get on your boots.

I bought two pair of these for a trip to Arizona and the Grand Canyon in January, one for myself and one for my wife. One of the rivets broke through the rubber on one pair. Neither my wife nor I felt very secure with lateral traction using these. I'm going back to Yak Trax.
