Most Helpful 5-Star Review

This is my first pair of snowshoes. I read the reviews about how they don't track straight. I didn't experience any problems with them not tracking straight. My first trip was a nice loop on a trail at Mt Spokane that had elevation, packed trails, groomed trail and untracked powder (over 1 ft dee... Read More

First: I love that these shoes are made in USA!
Second: Binding straps are simple to use, even with gloves on at 10 degrees in powder.
Third: Steep accents including log and rock crossings were easier than expected.
Fourth: Shoes lift in the back with each step which tosses powder snow onto the backs of legs but the shoe "tails" raise above the snow and debris helping me negotiate obstacles and direction changes in the deep snow.
Fifth: Crampons are stainless steel tuff! Firmly planting my feet while ascending steep forest trails I felt the CRUNCH!! of rock under foot several times. At the car I noticed two bent crampon cleats and several scratches on the tubing frame. It took good effort to bend cleats back with my Leatherman so I can't imagine a "lighter" crampon material holding up.
Sixth: Descending steep terrain was way easier than expected and fun as each step would slide a bit before stopping. Those huge crampons are big for this reason!
Seventh: Side hills were easier than expected with firm kicks into the snow. Watch out!! I felt like I could go anywhere...Even into snow slide danger! On one short steep side hill the top layer of powder slipped two feet down slope manifesting the importance of choosing your route carefully!
Eighth: Wearing these snowshoes on the packed trail hurt my knees after a mile or so. Both my wife and I took our snowshoes off and strapped them to my hydro pack and continued our hike. Along comes a group of six people, all in smaller plastic type snowshoes. I initially thought I'd bought the wrong Snowshoes! My fears left me as soon as we left the packed trail, donned our snowshoes and headed into virgin powder at a fork in the trail. We were the first to take this trail and my 30" Snowshoes sank a good 7" into the soft snow(even deeper while climbing) under my 160 lb. weight. For virgin snow and backcountry these shoes proved to be excellent!!! If you don't plan to leave the packed trail and have to have snowshoes on your feet as part of the whole ensemble then by the small flexible plastic type shoes.

First time snowshoers and pleasantly surprised. Nice product and works like a dream in all types of snow. Straps were a little long for my boots and somewhat confusing at first. An adjustable buckel design would be nice upgrade. Overall, completely satisfied and better than the cheaper imports I was looking at

I haven't had a chance to use these snow-shoes on a major outing but it just dumped over 2 feet of that wonderfull fluffy/power snow which Utah is known for. I snowshoed around the a city park and everthing worked very well. The construction of the snow-shoes looks great.
