Again, I went up at least a half size more than my normal shoe size so I may have a little more wiggle room. Oh I have short wide feet, with high arches. And like it or not I want a shoe or boot that is going to protect those arches. There is plenty of shoe lace to spread the boots wider, so my feet, high arches and all, go in nicely; not hard at all. The shoe laces are shaped like cording; round rather than flat noodle type. There is a small of give if you pull hard but the laces are not stretchy like elastic. The laces are very sturdy. So yep, I loosen the shoe lace on down the rungs. I don't take the shoe laces out. But once I loosen the laces I can spread open the boot so feet go in without a hitch of discomfort. Then I just tighten those laces up again. These boots are very comfortable!!!
