I bought these for my kids. I bought the correct size according to the desciption, but both my kids said they felt tight. Their feet sweated more in these socks but the socks did not itch. They said that they like their cotton socks just the same as these, so it is probably not worth the extra money to buy them any more. We live in a warm climate. These would probably be great for people who live in colder climates. These are thinner than the socks that say "outdoor" in the description.

Phew! I don't know how a 6-yr-old can make such stink on her sweet little feet! Every pair of sneakers I bought her was being trashed by stink so fast that I couldn't keep up. Enter Smartwool socks for Kids: They're soft, she doesn't mind the seams (sometimes turns them inside out when she's feeling more sensitive) and (hooray!) NO STINK!
She used to wear CROCS to ride her bike, because she couldn't stand the sweaty feel of cotton socks: My Mom always told me that sandals weren't safe for riding bicycles so I couldn't help feeling nervous about my speed-demon daughter pedaling around sans-sneakers. These Smartwool socks solved that problem.
She was one of those kids who always kicked off her shoes when in the car/bus and peeled off her socks (even if we were only driving 5 minutes). Umm, what's that foul aroma? Ack! Didn't it just take me TEN minutes to get you INTO those things?
Then I'm scrambling to get her shoes back on again when it's our stop, or standing in the parking lot, leaning in to the backseat of the car, rain going down back, trying to coax my 6-year-old back into stinky socks? No more... She likes the Smartwool, she doesn't peel them off because they don't feel wet with sweat. They breathe, they're warm even when wet (or muddy - she's an active little twerp) and they're cute!
Best method of laundry care: Wash them on gentle cycle in cold water with your other fleece and wool clothing, then hang them to dry on hangers or on the shower curtain rail. They'll be dry next day.
She also owns four pairs of the Kids' Smartwool 'Saturnsphere' socks: They don't slouch, they are cozy and comfortable for bicycling on cool mornings, she wears them over her leggings/jeggings and she likes the cute colors. She even wears them in class, for PE, and to Pump-It-Up parties! Two thumbs up!
One caveat: My son has NEVER worn socks, but I thought Smartwool Kids' may be the panacea, so to speak: Don't bother buying these socks if your child has sworn a lifetime oath of non-sock (dis-sock?). They're great socks, but even THESE wonderful socks couldn't get my son to break his vow of un-sock…
Best Uses: Bicycle To School, Daily Use, School Sneakers

cute and practical - one of my 10YO twins tends to get sweaty feet so the moisture-wicking quality of these socks is great for her. And she loves bees and flowers so the design is a nice bonus. Her only complaint is that she would have liked them to be above ankle length
