This is my husbands 3rd carhartt work coat in 15 years. They are durable, exceedingly well built, true to size and overall superior to anything else we have tried. Customer service with Sierra TP was, as per usual, exemplary. Thank you!

Carhartt coats tend to run large. I bought this style for my partner who had several carhartt jackets in a size larger. He's been wearing a style with a hood. He loves this Arctic Work Coat. It is a better fit and he likes that it doesn't have a hood. It is a warmer coat. He calls it the flagship of Carhartt coats.

  • Question “When will this be available again in large gray?”

Asked on 2/26/2016 10:50:33 PM by Dan B from New York
    • Answer Due to the nature of the closeout business, we often receive items in limited quantities. Therefore, popular sizes and colors can sell out quickly. Occasionally we are able to reorder a product, but closeout items are typically unable to be reordered. We suggest signing up for the My Updates as the best way to monitor incoming products. You will receive email notifications of our newest stock items.

    • Answer I have 3 of these coats of varying ages. All 3 have the hooks on the body and the loops on the flap. Yes it seems like everything sticks to it. But these coats are warm and pretty much wind proof.

    • Answer So yesterday I chatted with Carhartt via their website and I was told the hooks are on the flap. I asked again today and the person checked the actual coat herself and confirmed the hooks are on the body of the coat. I'm going with that.

  • Question “What does it mean in the description when it states "2nds"?”

Asked on 11/17/2015 12:44:58 PM by Dave from New york
    • Answer It usually means a cosmetic blemish of some sort. I buy a lot of Carhatt 2nds from STP and have found them mostly to be a slight tear in the fabric that has been repaired with stitching. You usually have to hunt pretty hard to find it. It does not affect the functionality of the garment. I just ordered one of these and I can't find the defect.

    • Answer I haven't yet seen any bless on the coat and it fits as it should. I was happy!
Answered on 11/17/2015 4:00:20 PM by lisaleaf from San Diego
    • Answer It means there's a slight irregularity in the jacket that occurred during production. It could be a light spot in the fabric, or a small error in the sewing-sometimes as simple as the tag being sewn in upside-down or something. Typically there's not change in the functionality of the jacket. I have purchased several "2nd's" in the Carhartt brand and have found nothing wrong with them, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy again! If, on the off chance you order and do find a serious flaw, Sierra Trading Post has an amazing return policy and I'm sure they'd take care of you.

    • Answer According to the labeling... the coat was made in Mexico. The outer shell is 100% cotton, the lining is 100% nylon and the interlining is 100% polyester.
There is no mention of a treatment.
Answered on 2/16/2015 4:38:46 PM by RB from New Hampshire
    • Answer I cannot feel any treatment on the surface. It feels like cotton, but if your son is allergic to such compounds, I would be safe and ask the Carhartt company.
Answered on 2/16/2015 4:42:25 PM by Everyday Stuff from Chicago
    • Answer Not that I had noticed. No weird smell or anything out of the box. I did wash it almost immediately upon getting it. The color begins to lighten the slightest bit after the first wash and subsequent washes, very typical of a Carhartt (I have had a few different times over the last 20 years). Leads me to believe they do not treat them with anything.

    • Answer In response to Wendy's question, I would suggest contacting Carhartt with your inquiry. I purchased this Arctic work coat for my son who too has many allergies. He has no issues with this coat, actually on his second one. This coat being cotton, durable, warm, good looking and nice fitting. Would it be an option to wash it before wearing if you find out that it has been treated? Wish you the best, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Answered on 2/17/2015 5:14:39 AM by Woodbutcher from Maine
    • Answer I don't think it has a coating (re: not a slick finish) seems to be a 'natural' finish - I don't think the description called it waterproof. But if your son as such a high allergy, I believe this would be a question best answered by the manufacturer.

    • Answer I didn't see any treatment mentioned on the coat, its description on-line, or with the documentation in the box. I don't think it's been treated with water or stain repellant.
