Reviewed by ILYA from COLORADO on Sunday, April 07, 2013I like this Jacket, the quality of material seems good. The design of the front pockets keeps the jacket from budging when leaning forward. Inside Lightweight insulation is just enough to make the jacket not bulky. The things which burton needs to look at are: Internal stretchy cuffs with thumbhole are not vet stretchy. They work great without gloves, but because they not very stretchy it’s hard to put them over the thumb when gloves are on. Another thing the space inside the jacket’s collar is tight when included neck warmer stored inside collar pocket. However, when the neck warmer is out of collar pocket there is some space available.

This is my 2nd Burton AK Gore-Tex jacket and the quality is right on par w/coats in a higher price range. I would have given it 5 stars , but was disappointed that they did away with the RiRi zippers that were used in the past. The RiRi zippers are oversized, easy to manipulate w/gloves on and bombproof. Also, the neck area seems to be slightly smaller on the new version, which could be an issue if using bulky layers beneath. The material that Burton used for the jacket is much thicker (and more durable) than the previous versions, but is a little stiff. This may just be b/c I haven't broken it in fully. Hood is helmet compatible and has a built in/stowable anti-powder neck, face-mask for cold/snowy days. Good stuff as usual Burton AK.
