I just did a walk in single digit temps with about a 15mph breeze and this band kept my ears toasty. It's large enough to completely cover the ear for most people, so you don't have to keep shifting it around to stay warm.

I needed something to keep my ears warm when cycling. This headband works really well. The only drawback is that they somewhat damped sounds. The band fits lose on my head but the helmet keeps it in place. This should fit better if your head is large (my head is small-medium). I remedied this by sewing a bit of elastic in the bottom so now I can wear this headband while running as well.

I've wanted one of these ear bands for years, so was delighted to find one at Sierra for a reasonable price. However, when I tried the ear band on it was so loose it wouldn't stay up on my head. There is nothing to make it stretch - it was just too big for my head and has been returned.
