Surprisingly, in this shoe, the quintessential Birkenstock footbed is improved upon with a covering of the same beautiful leather finish as the Champagne upper. That and the closed toe helps keep the footbed clean. Birkenstock has become my go to brand, in and out of the house, due to neuromas in both feet.

"exquisite" describes the thin skin of smooth leather masking the cork bed. ridiculously lovely. champagne color isn't as weird as feared -- why were these discounted? no idea. i really don't want to scuff these babies. unlike my old suede birks that've seen everything. i'll wear these to the opera. especially for standingroom.

Always come back to Birkenstocks for the fit and comfort. The cork does harden after yrs of wearing so if you still want lots of cushion it won,t be there but it will conform to your foot. Wore this style 7 yrs in nursing before traded um in. Probably won,t be able to as long now however with fallen arches and heel pain. But for the next few years they will be great!
