A minimalist moccasin style boot that offers great ankle support; and surprisingly comfortable enough to be worn all day with no feelings of foot fatigue. Rubber 'Top Sider' style soles are plenty grippy. Leather is thick, yet supple, well-stitched and gives you the impression that down the road you would want to resole them whenever the soles give out. Madras lining in the ankle area is a nice 'attention to detail' feature of the boot, and no doubt, adds to comfort. Treat with mink oil, etc., if you want some water repellency.

Simply put, the problem with these boots is that they used a three-quarters insole. No midsole. This does not allow the boot to correctly shape to your foot. You end up with a "ridge" just in front of your instep, which becomes quite uncomfortable if you wear the boots any length of time and blisters develop on the underside of your toes and/or on the insole. The uppers are well made, the leather is of good quality and its a true single vamp moccasin construction (single piece of leather wrapped around your foot). Adding another insole does not help - too much slope back to front. Best construction for this design and outsole would have been a dense, flat midsole and low profile full length insole. You could reconstruct the boots, but one should not have to do so, even at the STP price.

intended to use as a lightweight work/casual boot; because of the lack of footbed I will have to return. I hate to because the stitching and overall construct of the boot is great. Maybe I'll find something better; (but still at Sierra Trading Post),because customer service is unequalled.
    • Best Uses: Casual, Light work
    • Cons: Poor footbed
    • Pros: Excellent Stitching
