This is one tough pack. Every aspect of the pack seems to welcome any abuse you can give it.

Having served during the very early 70's, the new mil spec equipment is remarkable. We where using Korean War back gear then. If you want a piece of equipment that will last who knows how long. Rigged for ground born troops and airborne troops. Go for it. You will not be disappointed when you get familiar with the equipment.

Good quality materials and construction. More pockets/compartments would be nice for organization but the MOLLE system allows you to add external pouches if you can find them.

There are some 18" long or so webbing straps that are designed to thread through some openings in the top of the pack. At first this appeared to be a disadvantage and I was thinking the pack should be returned, until I realized the webbing could be shortened and the holes would facilitate carrying a two piece fishing pole by letting the end of the fishing pole extend through the top of the pack. This is a convenient solution to carrying a fishing pole to the fishing spot; most packs make no provision for carrying a two piece fishing pole and this pack looks like it would work for that. Thanks.
