These are really nice shorts. They look nice and dry quickly. I have worn them hiking as well as to do yard work. If you think you are a medium but often wear a small in some items these shorts tend to run a little big, so purchase the smalls. Luckily, with the belt you can cinch them tight.

I love these .... but, I can't believe the difference in sizing between a small and a medium. I have 'tried out' about 7 pairs ... the mediums are huge and the smalls are tight. It's nuts! Also, the elastice waist is tight bringing them up over the butt and hips ... and I have no butt or hips. I have kept a couple of the medium size and I have to struggle a bit to get them up, but once they are, the waste is huge. It is good that there is a cinch belt built in. These are way too big on me, but I love them anyway and use them at home and for working in the yard. They have a long rise and are extremely comfortable ... with pockets!

I am still searching for a couple of pairs in the small. Is it me or do they seem to vary (size) in the different colors? I can't believe the difference between a size small and a medium. You will just have to try them. The rise also seems to be much smaller ....

I am 5'7" and 140lbs. I have no hips and need to loose my belly fat in my tummy .... I will keep searching the different colors and sizes for that perfect fit.

I am only reducing to 4 stars instead of 5 because these run large. They are very comfy, great for hiking and kayaking. The legs are baggy and I would order a size down if I ordered again, but I am not returning the two pairs I bought because they are so comfy and I really needed shorts.

I had 2 pairs of these maybe 20 years ago. I still have one (the other I gave away a couple yrs ago). They are my "go to", cool, comfy shorts. I bought 3 more so I could wear them walking and hiking. They are still made with the same quality, same fit, and now have a back pocket my old ones didn't. They aren't as soft as my oldies but with washings I believe they will be. And who knew they were SPF 30!!!

    • Answer Yes, these shorts have that side panel. They are super sturdy and I'll be wearing them for years unless I lose enough weight. Right now they are awesome over my workout tights! Love em!

    • Answer I have large thighs as well and these did not fit. I normally wear a medium but these were too small and too short. I didn't measure them exactly.

    • Answer The inseam on an old pair that are probably 10 years old, size medium Gramicci, that I've had since my Colorado Rocky days measures 6". Heaven only knows from whom I bought them a decade ago. The outseam measures 16.5". The hem circumference measures 24.5". A caveat... the medium measurements are not consistent across all purchases or vendors. I just returned a women's medium Gramicci that was as tight as an extra small. Also the colors are not quite as pictured. I also returned a women's medium I just purchased as the color was a darker shade of gray, not dusky blue. I would suggest that you consider ordering either a medium or a large in the men's Gramicci shorts. You can retain the style & utility while gaining some leg length/width that you seem to desire. I normally purchase men's Gramiccis. I like my Gramiccis on the loose side. Sierra is a surplus, closeout offering,.,. valuable but variable. Good luck.

    • Answer I am not sure these will be comfortable for larger thighs. I like them, but the material has no give to it.
