This is my first Jack Victor suit. I was attracted to the quality fabric, as well as the JV name and the price. It is a very nice formal suit. Depending on where you live it could serve you for two seasons or maybe three but is definitely too heavy to wear in the summer heat. Pair it with a high quality shirt, tie, belt and some well polished classic shoes and you are set to go for the most important business meeting or dressy social event.

As a true 40 short in most makes (I like and wear Hart, Schaffner & Marx a lot) I hoped that this would fit me well. I am medium build and know that I will always need to have the pants tailored to my 32/30 size, I expect that. The jacket, however, required the body to be tapered and the sleeves to be shortened. Overall, my tailor bill was a little over one hundred dollars. Still not bad for a suit that I ended up paying about $280 for at STP. Perhaps the slim fit version of JV is better for my frame, will find out next time.

I've tried on and bought many Jack Victor jackets and suits. They usually fit me pretty well, and often have superlative fabrics. I was frankly dazzled by the sumptuous refined splendor in this one's fabric. Its makes for a very formal looking suit. From a distance, it pretty much appears to be a solid blue suit, but as you get closer, the faint stripes appear and add a classy visual interest. I was so taken with the fantastic drape and overall appearance that I might have allowed myself to keep it in spite of a less than ideal fit. The pants were fine, but the jacket was big in the shoulders and the gut. The alteration addressed it somewhat, but to me it still looks like a cut-down larger suit. I may have to break down and take it back to a more masterful tailor to try to get this suit to sing like it could. I can't blame Jack Victor for using fabrics that are so nice as to cloud one's judgement, can I? I'm used to wearing my jackets and suits with an open collar, but I'm finding this suit might just be too refined to NOT wear a tie - to my eye, sporting an open collar with it seems to have a decidedly unfinished look that I didn't anticipate. It begs for a power tie. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this suit, which will be my go-to for the most formal and important occasions that demand a highly dignified, polished look.
