I wear these every day when I do volunteer work in Appalachia. They take all the abuse I give them and still no rips, tears, or failures. Fantastic product at a great price.

I HAVE BEEN BUYING "IRREGULAR" CARHARTT BIB OVERALLS FROM STP FOR, AT LEAST, TWENTY YEARS. I WORE THE TAN ONES TO WORK FOR FIFTEEN YEARS, AND THEN I RETIRED, BUT KEPT WEARING THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE SO COMFORTABLE, AND I WAS USED TO THEM, AND THEY WERE COMFORTABLE. NOW I WEAR EITHER THE DARK BROWN OR THE BLACK MODELS. SOME HOW THE DARKER COLORS LOOK DRESSIER, IF THAT IS POSSIBLE. NOW IF I AM GOING SOMEWHERE WITH MY WIFE, I DON'E HEAR HER SAYING "ARE YOU GOING DRESSED LIKE THAT?" NOW I CAN PULL ON A SECOND SHIRT OVER THE BIBS WHICH CREATES A GOOD DISGUISE.

THE BROWN ONES HAVE ALWAYS COME TRUE TO SIZE, BUT WHEN I ADDED THE BLACK ONES TO THE LIST, THEY STARTED SHOWING UP TOO SMALL. THROUGH A SERIES OF TRADING INFORMATION AND BIBS BACK AND FOURTH FOR A WHILE, I FINALLY ENDED UP SETTLING ON BLACK ONES THAT WERE TWO SIZES BIGGER THAN THE DARK BROWN ONES. SO, THE BLACK ONES SEEM TO RUN SMALL, BUYER BE WARE. KNOWING THIS, I WOULD HAVE ORDERED THREE DIFFERENT SIZES TO FIND THE RIGHT SIZE AND HAVE SAVED A LOT OF TIME AND MONEY.

NOW THAT HAS ALL BEEN SAID, IS WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS--HOW DOES A TUBE TO LIP BALM IN MY PANTS POCKET, WEAR A HOLE IN THE PANT LEG (COTTON CANVAS) BEFORE IT WEARS A HOLE IN THE POCKET (THIN COTTON) IN EVERY PAIR???

I had to exchange for a larger size as the 'waist' is rather high due to the bib. The exchange was easy and fast, I got the new ones before I managed to send the originals back. Couldn't spot why these are 2nds, they look good to me. The leg length worked out well, the same as my regular jeans.

I think they look good, and I don't have to go around pulling my pants up all the time or wear a belt, which is uncomfortable, also very tough, they wear forever

I ordered a size 48 waist and I got a 36 waist. They say their 48 but they are way to small. I have ordered the same overalls from here and had no issues. So i'm not sure what the problem was.

    • Answer No, they are not preshrunk they will shrink, you have to buy them big depending on whether you're going to wear them over clothes or not. They will shrink at least a full size in the legs and at least half the size and the waist.

    • Answer I bought these for my nephew. He says they didn't shrink. Carhartt stuff is quality. He loves them!

    • Answer They are not preshrunk. There has been some shrinkage but the adjustable shoulder straps makes up the difference.
Answered on 4/8/2016 11:38:55 AM by The Typical Saint Louisian from Missouri
    • Answer I'm not sure if they are pre-shrunk but I do wash mine the first time in hot water and they do seem to lose a size. I didn't see much difference in the length but they did get tighter around the waist. I've been through several pair of these and order a size larger, I prefer a loose waist when working in them. And it helps in colder weather when I wear thermal pants underneath.

    • Answer The recommendation for a 36" waist measurement of this particular model is to order a size 38 if wearing alone and a size 40 is wearing over clothes. The inseam is going to be as listed on our sizes.

    • Answer I wear 35 x 34 jeans. As I wear the overalls over my jeans, I use 36 x 34 overalls. I'm tall and lanky. If I had much of a belly, they might be little tight. They are plenty long enough, but I don't think I'd order them 2" shorter, especially if I didn't wear them over my pants. I've bought some 34 x 34 in the past, but I only use them by themselves, and they are a little bigger than snug. HTH
