Comfortable, waterproof, stays on in the wind. What more could one ask of a rain hat? Well, how about stylish too? Got lots of compliments the first day I wore it.

I didn't test it so I'm not certain it's waterproof (only reason I deducted a star). I must have been out of my mind when I ordered it. I was really looking for a sun hat and this is much too thick, too heat retaining for that purpose. It's well made and I suspect it would be perfect for it's intended purpose.

Comfortable, strap helps hat stay on in windy conditions. Kept head dry during mist on fishing trip. Very good product and easily cleaned.

I was familiar with an older model... brim is not quite as wide- but still functionable. Love the magnetic piece to shape the brim if you want it looking more the shape of a cowboy hat- sides up.

    • Answer Yes, this is breathable. According to the product overview above:
      - Ventia Dry waterproof breathable construction

    • Answer The hat is waterproof and designed for wet weather and probably not the best for hiking in the sun. I don't recall the UPF rating for the hat, but I would guess that it provides reasonably good protection from the sun. I am less certain that it would provide enough ventilation to be comfortable on a hot day. I can honestly say that this is a great hat when you are out in the rain. I hope that this information is helpful.

    • Answer Truthfully, I'm not sure. I live in the Bay Area so it gets over 85 degrees about three days a year.

I bought it for the waterproof-ness, which again, is great if it isn't too windy. Unfortunately, it's super windy where I live too.

      Not super helpful. Sorry :)
