I was surprised by how basic this pack is. The hip belt provides very little actual function, and there are no compression straps - a real downside for any size load. And the interior divider between the compartments seems very flimsy. While I do really like the suspension system, and it does fit me well, I will be returning it for one that's more suited for day hiking. This one might be fine for daily lugging stuff around.

I used this backpack on a weekend train trip with my 2-year old. It was comfortable to wear and it fit securely, with both chest clips and a waist clip to close in front. The divided design was nice for packing diapers in the bottom and toys, food, and wallet on top. However, there was no place to clip a lead in front, so I had to carry my son or hold his hand. Also, the fabric was a bit thin and it actually frayed inside between two sections, so when I put small items in they dropped into the bottom compartment. Also, because the interior is white, it already looks very dirty after one use. I would not buy this again because it did not stand up to the rigors of travel or toddler toys.
