I got this for my lab-ish mutt, Gus. He's a lean 50lbs but relatively short and stout and the small fits perfectly. I am so surprised when I exam the harnessss that it does not have any quick disconnect or Velcro. Each of the attachment (there are three of them) requires you to thread one of the straps into two very cumbersome belt-keeper-like strips in order to attach. It is ridiculous to think it will take you 5-min. to put it on and possible longer to take it off. I returned.

Great pack for our two dogs to carry their own gear and food. Saddlebags are roomy and have a nice separate zipper compartment. The materials feel extremely well-made and high quality. The full vest construction helps with weight balancing, but you still need to make sure the bags are balanced or you will see some sagging to one side. A bit difficult to get on and off, but they wear them for hours at a time, so it's not really a big deal. Overall a very well made product and one that I would recommend. Both of my dogs were comfortable the whole trip! I'm glad I spent a little extra to go with this pack instead of the cheaper versions.

Have not used it in the fields, but the dog is OK with it. Just the right size. Good quality.
