This knife is easy to use well beyond tomatoes. I keep it on the cutting boad next to a bread knife and a pastry scraper and well within fancier chef knives and mini choppers. Well worth the cost, but as the carnival barker said when directing visitors toward an old man and his knife solution, "always cut away from yourself." It's that sharp and should always cut away and down to avoid injury!
