Most Helpful 5-Star Review

Excellent build quality. No surprise here for an Italian made boot. I normally wear an 8.5 2E but the D width fit perfectly with plenty of volume, even wearing medium weight socks. The real surprise was that these AKU's needed no break-in. No pressure points, hot spots or abrasions. They are comfort... Read More

The boots fit great right out of the box. I followed other posts and bought a half size smaller, which fit well with mid weight hiking socks. I broke them in by wearing them around the office for a week and then off to Alaska for a week.

    Definitely recommend these boots.

I just bought 2 more pairs because I love these boots. The first time I tried these boots the only thing I did was to add a pair of Superfeet green inserts and put them on at the start of a 9 day backpacking trip into the Beartooths of Montana, a trip that started with rain, turned to snow, and finally a week of sunshine. Even while hiking with a heavy pack off-trail I found these lightweight boots supportive enough for protection. On day trips, they were wonderful in all types of terrain from marshy meadows to boulder fields. Not a single blister or even a hot-spot the entire trip. The first thing I did when I returned from that trip was buy another pair to use for hiking in Switzerland. Almost a year later, and many day hikes in all types of terrain and in wet and dry conditions, I bought the latest 2 pairs because I have never had such comfortable boots. They seem to wear well, and the only reason I keep collecting them is I would like to have a supply that lasts the rest of my hiking life.

Quality appears nice but they just seem squishy. The sole is soft, the upper is over-padded, and they don't seem like true hiking boots. They are super comfy and would probably be good for day hikes or walks on smooth trails. I went with the Aku Transalpina now that STP has the fabric version. For reference, I measure a 10.5 and prefer 1/2 size up for boots. These in size 11US/45 euro seem slightly larger than others I've worn (they are longer, wider forefoot, and higher volume than the same size Transalpina and Scarpa Kailash).

I ordered a half size larger as I were two pairs of sox for extreme hiking and rocky terrain hunting. Boots are true to size, comfortable and i think will be good. I only rate 4 stars as it is too soon to give a full rating. I have gone on two hikes of about 6 miles each but on trail type ground and they worked great.

Well-made boot very comfortable would've given five stars except I had to glue the insole in the boot it moving around.
