Excellent build quality. No surprise here for an Italian made boot. I normally wear an 8.5 2E but the D width fit perfectly with plenty of volume, even wearing medium weight socks. The real surprise was that these AKU's needed no break-in. No pressure points, hot spots or abrasions. They are comfort... Read More

I received my AKU Tetons last week ... and took them for a short 3 hour hike up a couple side trails in the mountains off the Long Trail last weekend. The boots were very comfortable and true to size. The Vibram soles held to the wet rocks pretty good, and my feet were dry in the muddy puddles. Great boots for a day hike!

I really wanted to keep these boots, everything seems to be where it should. Lacing system is good. Couple of things I did not like and these turned me away from these boots.
Too soft at the joint, support is almost nonexistent; and second, the heel seems to be slightly wider compare to some other hiking boots I had/have, like Hanwag and Asolo.
These tend to be slightly longer in length being at the same size from other brands I already had mentioned.

Comfortable out of the box, good support, good lacing control. I like the "jamming" bottom lace hook that locks the tension in the lacing over the foot. That way you can have different lacing tension in the foot and the ankle/lower leg area.

I possess a weird (and usually non-existent) foot size: women's 10.5, so ordered a pair of men's 9.5 and they are PERFECT! Requiring NO break-in period, but supplying the structure and stability needed for a muli-day backpack on the West Coast Trail of Vancouver Island this September. For training hikes they've been worn with or without orthotics and still have plenty of toe room and I can lace them just how I want for my narrower instep & ankle.

Have yet to find out just how waterproof they really are, but confident they'll be just fine.

This is the first lightweight boot that I really like. It feel airy and has suficient toe room to give me the comfort and range of movement I find useful. Oddly enough it feels better without my orthodics and my heels don't hurt. Laces stay tight. Thumbs up!
