A little complex with its lattice of cord, but still works well at making things smaller.

This looked a little different, but the price was cheap, so decided to give it a try. Can't have too many stuff sacks when trying to organize a big load. Definitely works, although you end up with a LOT of extra cord after compressing. The cord stuffs into a little pocket on top of the compression sack, however. If you are a true minimalist, looking to save every oz, you probably don't even believe in using these things, but for the rest of us, this is a very lightweight, useful little piece of gear, and seems lighter than the regular compression sacks I have, since the cord is lighter than bigger straps, and their is no extra material needed for "caps" at both ends.

Bought this to use with a (small down) sleeping bag that didn't come with a compression sack. It works well and is a quality product. The only suggestion I could make would be to make the opening of the sack just a little larger in circumference and deduct a little from the height. Other than that its a good sack for the price and I expect it will last a long time.

I do not understand the negative review. Maybe there are better products, but for what I wanted this will be very good. I wanted a compression sack for my big puffy down jacket that I will keep in my pack while hiking. I'll only wear the jacket when I stop for a while to eat or rest. It will take up much less room in my pack in this handy compression sack. It's very easy to use and I do not find it finicky at all.

  • Question “Would I get any benefit using this on a syn bag....or useful for down only due to its compress ability”
Asked on 11/12/2012 12:00:00 AM by Mark Colorado from Denver, CO
    • Answer It would compress you synthetic bag a bit more than just using a stuff sack, but it would not be near the compression you could get with a down bag.

  • Question “am looking at buying a sleeping bag for my twenty-five year old daughter for Christmas and read in sleeping bag reviews that others have bought a compression sack along with the bag and it has helped them when it comes to packing up the bag. How could that be? I'm not sure exactly what a compression sack does or how it works.||thanks for your help!”
Asked on 11/11/2012 12:00:00 AM by Pattie from United States
    • Answer A compression sack has special straps to compress the bulk of its contents and make it easier for hikers and mountaineers to carry.
