I've had this AKC car seat cover in black for about 5 years now & wonder how I ever lived without it! I have it in my Subaru Outback backseat it fits great! I bought it for my monster long haired Saint Bernard - he's very tall & leggy & weighs about 165lbs. He is way more "contained" now & I feel... Read More

We have a Volvo station wagon with leather seats. We bought this to keep the leather from nicks from dog nails. Our one dog is a little restless in the car so moves from window to window frequently and can try to come to the front seat to hang with us (even though we have a bar). This seat cover is an
added deterrent to keep her in the back seat due to its U shaped design. It's easy to clean and install. It took a bit for our dogs to get used to it, but they are rescue dogs that are 9 yrs old so may not have had much car riding experience.

I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of this product. It is extremely well made, strong and fits perfectly in the back seat of my Honda CRV.

I have a newish Ford Escape. Instead of using this seat cover in the back seat, I installed it in the trunk area to protect the back of the seats. I put it over the headrests, tucked the sides around the seats, and slipped a Weather tech mat over the bottom half. You only see the top half. A lot easier to clean up after a muddy run or swim.

This cover is simple and inexpensive. I use it to cover the rear seat after Scouting events. It also functions well under work bags. After it conforms to the seat, little movement is experienced. Easy to wipe clean.

I love the idea of having a removable seat cover for my dog. Overall, this product works. The construction is solid and the material is strong. However, the sides of the cover have no way to attach, so the approximately foot of material that is loose between the headrest and the door flops over. Which means, when the dog jumps into the car, you have to rearrange the cover every time. I would still make this purchase again for the price though.

  • Question “Is it machine washable”
Asked on 4/3/2015 9:29:22 AM by Oscarledgewood from Ct
    • Answer I haven't tried but plan on just hosing it off in the yard. The material is pretty stiff.
Answered on 4/3/2015 11:05:09 AM by MAA from DC
    • Answer I would say yes. It's made mostly of terylene.
Answered on 4/3/2015 11:17:40 AM by Sonora Golfer from Sonora, CA
    • Answer Probably. Think heavy-duty shower curtain, with slick vinyl on one side and a canvas like surface on the other. Also, there are straps that would have to be cared for so they don't get caught.

I would hose it down first before putting it in the washing machine.
Answered on 4/3/2015 11:19:17 AM by OCULUS from Rensselaer, NY
    • Answer Don't know for sure but don't see any reason why not. surface is very slick so most things should just wipe off quite easily.

    • Answer Its tarp like. like a grill cover. im sure you could wash it but a wipe with a cloth is fine.

    • Answer That I do not know.
Answered on 4/3/2015 5:29:32 PM by PeginCO from Colorado
    • Answer Yes, the material is vinyl, so it is machine washable, just like a shower curtain liner.

  • Question “Is it waterproof?”
Asked on 2/13/2015 2:52:40 PM by MTCowgirl from Montana
    • Answer I would say it is water resistant--as in muddy paws will be kept off upholstery; but wet, dripping dogs would likely penetrate the (polyester?) canvas. I run mine as an added-coverage under-liner beneath my BMW pet seat cover, so I have double protection....needed for a pair of Newfies who love the water and can never shake enough before boarding.
Answered on 2/13/2015 4:11:42 PM by OCULUS from Renselaer, NY
    • Answer It is waterproof and can be wiped with a damp/wet rag or soapy sponge to clean. Sort of like the material of a camping chair
Answered on 2/13/2015 4:30:42 PM by PeginCO from CO
    • Answer It's made from a type of canvas, so to some degree I would say yes. However, there are slits for the two back seatbelts, therefore, water would seep thru those two holes, yet they do velcro shut. Can you tell I'm not quite sure how to answer your question exactly. I can pour water on it today!

    • Answer No idea - I gave it to my daughter for her two big dogs. Haven't heard any complaints, though.

  • Question “Will this work in a car with no headrests in the back seat?”
Asked on 12/10/2014 2:19:46 PM by Laura from Arizona
    • Answer No....You need the headrests to hold up the seat cover on the back of the seat otherwise it will end up on the floor.

    • Answer Unfortunately it will not work without headrests to anchor and suspend it.
Answered on 12/11/2014 4:55:45 AM by kljgray from metro Detroit MI
    • Answer Unfortunately, I don't think so. I can't think of how you could affix the cover otherwise. Sorry.
Answered on 12/11/2014 9:24:25 AM by Perx from Portsmouth, NH
    • Answer It has straps that wrap and snap around the headrests. So I would assume that it wouldnt work because there is nothing for it to clip to.

  • Question “I have a Jeep Wrangler. Do you think this would fit?”
Asked on 4/29/2014 10:25:29 AM by Lethal from Maine
    • Answer Howdy. I have the jeep wrangler unlimited. And it fits fine- with some material to spare I- which is just fine. It also goes a good bit into the back cargo area with the seats down - protecting the carpeted area on the seat backs and more. Go for it. It's a nice cover and good price. Hope that helps.
Answered on 4/29/2014 10:52:32 AM by Zoot Allures from CO
    • Answer Yes, I think it will fit a variety of vehicles well. My car is a Honda Fit and I use it with the back seat up or down. ( The picture demonstrating the cover in use shows this product well.) However, if your Jeep does not have a bench seat in the back, a pet is going to fall between the seats. In this case, I should think the cover could be folded in half and used on one seat. If your purpose is just to keep the interior clean an have no pet to consider then I think this would adapt in many ways.
