I use this vest primarily for work but then I use it straight from work and go out to dinner or whatever. It is very warm, nice looking and I'm looking forward to being in cold enough weather to wear this under my Carhartt heavy coat.

ORDERED MY NORMAL 2XL SIZE AND THE FIT IS TOO LOOSE. ALSO DID NOT REALIZE THAT THE VEST WAS/IS A 2ND UNTIL IT HAD ARRIVED. DON'T THINK THAT MATTERS UNLESS THE FIT WAS AFFECTED. THE ZIPPER IS AWKWARD SINCE IT ABOVE THE BOTTOM OVER AN INCH AND IS HARD TO GET STARTED. THIS IS THE FIRST CARHARTT ITEM FOR ME.

I do a lot of work in the woods in fluctuating temperatures averaging 55-65, and want to be able to wear just a shirt beneath it so I can quickly adjust my body temperature to the work tempo. This vest allows me to do that by just zipping up or down. The vest is is well contoured to the body and tough enough to handle getting poked by the odd branch. It will have to be washed frequently, so we'll see how it responds. Since it is used only for work, it won't have to look like a dress vest for town on Saturday night.

I purchased the Carhartt Sandstone V-Neck Vest - Sherpa Lined first. Then I saw the insulated version and decided to order one of each color, a total of four, for work. The fabric did not feel as heavy or durable as the sherpa liined version. I returned all four.

Itsa CARHARTT! So you'll get the quality and performance you expect. Warm by itself on lesser cold days, and helps keep you warmer under a jacket on the colder days.
