The foot is thick and padded but the label states the tights are made of cotton so I don't know how they could provide any warmth when wet. The down side of the thick gray feet is they won't work or look good in most shoes. The legs are knit cotton that you can see through just the same as any other tights. I was hoping for something that would keep my daughter warm on the playground but stil look good with a dress, this is not it. The blue color is much nicer, darker, than in the picture. I can't comment on durability since I am sending them back.

Reviewed by Gloria goes shopping from San Bernardino, CA on Friday, January 11, 2013I have had a hard time finding good quality tights for my grand-daughter...I've tried many brands, and even the pricier ones were only lasting for one or two wearings. I had seen these here on STP but I wasn't familiar with the brand and there were no reviews yet. Also sizing based on shoe sizes seemed peculiar, but they looked as if they might be warm and durable so I finally decided to give them a try. I ordered one size larger than I thought would be correct (she wears a size 4 shoe, but she is very tall for her age), so I purchased the tights one size up in 6.5-9 in case they ran small. When they arrived I thought I would have to exchange for the smaller size becaue they looked really long--as if they would fit a slender adult woman (and they might--after all, doesn't shoe size 6.5-9 imply sizing at least for teens?). But she tried them on anyway, and they actually fit pretty well--a bit too long in the foot portion, but okay for wearing with boots, and the legs are more fitted and less stretchy than I expected so they ended up fitting quite well, just a little too long, but not enough to be a problem. I'm not sure she would have been able to fit into her suggested size, but I might try a pair next time, just to see how much difference there really is between sizes, and if the foot portion would fit better. These are thick, warm and comfortable and stay up! I really appreciate the foot portion--so many kids tights don't even have a fitted foot, just a simple tube shape...the foot in these is very strong & tough--never seen that before, but what a great idea! They obviously won't work with dressy shoes, but are perfect for sneakers as well as winter shoes and boots. She can pad around without her shoes on before and after school or take off her boots at a friend's house and not have to worry about ruining her tights. The hose portion is also durable and the colors are rich and dark, and so far they are holding up perfectly. They look cute, as well. I think these were a great buy, and I will be purchasing more. I wish other colors were also available.
