I bought two of these -- one for my 7 year old son and one for my 10 year old daughter -- because they were both cold at night (thermostat at 65 degrees).
Since getting them, they've both been warm all night, and stopped waking up at night (being cold)!
Feeling the comforters when I got them, they weren't as thick feeling as I imagined they would be. However, I don't think that matters at all -- it's the fact that they are at least 75% actual down feathers -- as opposed to a cheaper insulating material -- that matters. In fact, since they've both been toasty warm since getting their comforters, thicker would probably not even be better.
As an added bonus, my son has always kicked his covers off himself at night, compounding the problem (of waking up cold).
He has not kicked off his down comforter, however, probably because the down filling conforms to his body so well.
So anyway, 5-stars from everyone in my family!
P.S. My wife and I have been using an outstanding queen size down comforter which I bought years ago from STP, so I'm not naive to this type of product.
