We skiied in low single digit temps with below zero wind chills. They stayed warm and dry with appropriate layers underneath. They are sized well for layering. The collar is very stiff and when fully zipped irritated their chins so a neck gator or scarf is needed. The soft fleecy fabric inside on top also collected snow and negatively affected the performance and drying time. Also, the hoods are not helmet compatible, so they also made them less performance oriented.
