I love this jacket. I haven't worn it much, but the fit is great. I ordered a large. I'm 5'11" 195lbs with athletic build. The arms are a little tight on me. Not uncomfortable or too tight, but if I wanted to wear a bunch of bulky warming layers it would probably be a little restrictive. The quality is outstanding. It packs well so not too bulky. This jacket would be perfect for any outdoor activity from fall to late spring in WA and even in the summer in the evening if its a cooler night.

I enjoy the outdoors during all seasons of the year. I was looking for a new Jacket to wear during the winter months. I searched several "out-doors" catalogues for Jackets that had the features that I wanted: waterproof, wicking and light. I was after value and I found it at Sierra Trading Post. The Columbia Jacket is great! It fits well, it keeps me dry & warm when I'm out in the snow. I do wear a couple of wicking layers under the Jacket and I'm warm as toast in Zero degree weather.

Fantastic so long as it is worn with layers.. I have learned a fleece jacket underneath is the cats meow! Went out in 40 mph winds at 0 degrees F, the jacket did great!!

I've been looking for a shell to use year round from summer rain to winter snow. I cancelled an Arcteryx shell jacket order as it was more than I wanted to spend, lacked features/pockets and I found it to be an awful fit after trying it on. I found this, ordered and I'm extremely happy with this jacket. The black looks great and fits my body perfectly. The grey patches seem to have a slight green tint to it but looks great - I typically like to wear all black jackets but this looks great. I'm 5'10", 33" arms, ~40 chest, 150 lbs. All Columbia medium active fit jackets seem to be made for my body type. The jacket falls below my waist and the sleeves are

I've had a (Columbia) insulated soft shell omni-heat jacket for the past 3 years. It's my favorite jacket and has been keeping me warm - I definitely think that the omni-heat dots make for a warmer jacket. The dots have started wearing down, though, so I hope they have improved the material - that was one of their first jackets to use omni-heat.

This jacket is of an even higher quality than it appears in the pictures - the exterior shell fabric feels very tough and the interior fabrics look very well seemed together. Care was put into the construction of these.

I like the visored hood - the visor will block sun and rain and the hood also allows for great peripheral vision compared to other hood types. Omni-heat dots are both in the arms and hood for added warmth. This easily fit over another fleece - it should fit over one thicker insulated jacket or two thinner layers (e.g., fleece.) The zipper is smooth and it has all the necessary strings and pulls to cinch up the hood, wrists and waist.

I think it will be great for precipitation of all seasons - I do not foresee there being heat issues during summer rains. If it did get warm, there are long under arm vents as well as long front pockets (with mesh backing) that will keep you cool.

I would like this jacket even more if 1 - the hood were smaller (it is sized to accept a helmet) (there are 3 strings to contour it to your head but it'd look even better without all that fabric that has to be tightened up) and 2 - the front pockets had double zippers or were insulated versus mesh backed (the pocket extends from the chest to the waist - if you want to rest your hands in the typical lower waist area, you have to unzip two 1' long zippers.)

I really love this jacket, and Sierra as I was able to pick this up for over 50% off.

Upon receiving this shell and inspecting it it is as the description says a three layer jacket so it is by no means a thin shell but a well built Medium to heavy duty rain shell. This is not a real warm weather rain jacket. Size and length of arms seem to be accurate. I am 6'1 195 with a 35, 36" sleeve and ordered a XL and it fits nice.
