When I first tried these shoes on, I thought I would be returning them. The removable liner was very uncomfortable--kind of odd shape. I took the liner out and replaced it with my Spenco insoles and then thought my heel moved too much. After adjusting the laces I decided to keep them. However, for the record, these are narrower than typical Asics shoes, so if you "barely" fit a medium, look for another model. The toe box is reasonable, though a bit narrower than other Asics models. Also, I still am having trouble lacing them to be 100% comfortable for a long time, so my recommendation is luke-warm. I will know more after wearing them on an upcoming trip.

With problem feet, I purchased these shoes for walking. They are lightweight, and easy on my feet. They are especially good for heel to toe motion.

Have bought Asics for years. Decided to try a "new" model. These were a disappointment. Tried to run in them several times and got horrible blisters on the bottom of my feet on the top inside of my arch! Have never had that happen. Will stick to the Asics I'd been getting - they're great.

To clarify: I'm not a runner, just a walker who likes the light weight, breathability and cushioning of a running shoe. At 205 lbs, I put some stress on shoes and these are holding up quite well; excellent cushion and good looks too. They are just a touch narrow in the forefoot area so wide footed folks should beware. If you are a pronator, this probably isn't the shoe for you as there is little motion control. Nice price for a good shoe makes Dave a happy Sierra Trading Post shopper (again)
