I used these in my 100 miler. They are very light weight and that is in important in an ultra of that distance. I also used these when backpacking the Grand Canyon this year! Very durable.

I've used these for hiking up steep peaks in the fall. They are great. I've had other brands' poles, and BD's are by far the most sturdy and built the best. Highly recommended. The low profile baskets don't snag on the scrub oak too much, so that is good too.

These poles are excellent if you can get just the right length for you. Since they come in preset lengths only the fit may not be spot on. But, the upside is the incredibly light weight. A little more flexible than some other poles but again the tradeoff is the lightness. Good choice if looking for a basic, very light hiking pole.

I had been looking at these in an outfitter store last year. When I saw them at STP, I jumped on the deal. They are very light-in-weight but also rugged. They fold into a very packable size (a really handy feature is that the top pole section collapses into the handgrip). Hopefully I'll never have to buy another pair, but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase these again.
