It was not tight at all when just wearing it, However, my only reason for returning it was that when I put my arms forward and hold my hands together such as holding a golf club, the back seam would not stretch. I could actually feel where the stitching was across my shoulders. This made me feel as though the seam would pop. I returned it because I won't be able to use it for certain activities and I worried the seam would come apart eventually. I have been very impressed with SmartWool quality and will continue to purchase their products.

Reviewed by Nance from Michigan on Friday, April 19, 2013According to the size chart, an XL is a size 16. I like roomy clothes, so that's what I ordered. (I'm normally a 12-14, probably 14 at the end of this endless winter). This thing fits like a medium. I see why it's a closeout.

It fits perfect. You can wear a base layer under it or by itself. It's perfect for cool rooms. I ordered a second one and wear them all the time
